The female reproductive
system is the system responsible for reproduction and it is in it that the
encounter of the male and female gametes occurs and the fertilization of the
same
The system consists of the ovaries, uterine
tubes, uterus and vagina. The vagina is a 6 to 10 centimeter long, elastic wall
channel that connects the cervix of the uterus to the external genitalia. The
uterus joins the ovaries by the tubes, it is in her that a possible fetus will
develop. The ovaries are responsible for the production of the ovules.
After sexual intercourse, the sperm will move
from the vaginal canal to the uterine tubes, where the fertilization of the
gametes occurs and the formation of a zygote, the same will be lodged in the
uterus, where it will develop during 9 months in a period called pregnancy.
